TIL (Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocyte)

Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocyte (TIL) Therapy is a form of personalized cancer immunotherapy that harnesses the patient’s own immune system to target and destroy tumor cells.

It involves isolating T cells that have naturally migrated into the tumor (TILs), expanding them ex vivo, and re-infusing them into the patient to mount a stronger anti-tumor response.

Originally developed in the 1980s, TIL therapy showed early promise in treating melanoma and has since been explored for various solid tumors. Unlike engineered cell therapies, TILs recognize a wide range of tumor-specific antigens, making them effective even against heterogeneous tumors.
